Even a band with a tap dancer has to find new ways to keep their music interesting. On O, Tilly and the Wall add a few more dancers, percussive instruments, and sing along choruses to highlight their usual high energy numbers. “Pot Kettle Black” is a punky, Le Tigre sounding ode to girls who talk shit, complete with a 10-person stomp troop marching out the beat. The pretty “Tall Tall Grass” and trumpet-filled “Cacophony” showcase the band’s two (and three) part harmonies. Pots and pans, alongside an all-girl tap trio, help keep the beat on the spazzy “Jumble.” Experimenting with different amplifiers and floors helps tapper Jamie Pressnall give each song a unique sound, and the tapping at full speed on “Too Excited” proves that fun never gets old. -Shannon Carlin
