Anti-Social Lullabies

Anti-Social Lullabies are a young band, but twin brothers, Jared and Travis are able to use it to their advantage. Jared’s Emo-esque voice is just right to sing about eager hearts and sleeping in and offsets Travis’ innovative bass work. On their 5-song demo, the two Long Islanders manage to create a sound that makes you think they have far more than 2 members. Jared does not just sing, but plays acoustic guitar, drums and harmonica. His brother is known for his bass skills, but he also plays cello, guitar and keyboard. The guys show off how well they play on two instrumental numbers (“True To Us” and “This One Goes to Eleven.”) The highlight of the album is their last song “Teal Green Girl.” Jared’s voice sounds like The Dead Milkmen singing “Punk Rock Girl.” Where the other two songs may border on being a little juvenile, this one manages to come off as simple, and sincere.
