Atlas Sound - Let The Blind...
This debut album from Bradford Cox, front man for Deerhunter, is entwined in moody ambient soundscapes and haunting guitar loops. The first track, "A Ghost Story," in which a child tells the story of a ghost named Charlie, sets the tone for the album. The song becomes a bleak instrumental movement that does a beautiful job of creating the mood of the voyage yet to come. The album is, in fact, largely instrumental, with Cox's ethereal voice contributing more as an instrument that seems to float in from another dimension. Quiet and spooky, the way that each song flows into the next makes the album best suited for listening to it as a whole, as opposed to song by song.

Of the album, Cox has said, "It has a lot to do with childhood. I wanted to make an album that was uplifting but honest, which is why it seems sad a lot of the time. I want to make music that could be 'healing' or therapeutic to people who relate to it." He nailed his intentions perfectly. This album is ideal for sad rainy days.
