After being praised for the Juno Soundtrack and dissed by Barbara Walters, Kimya Dawson is back and doing it all for the kids. Alphabutt is a collection of children’s songs that highlight Dawson’s usual silly and vulnerable sides. With a little help from her musical friends and their kids, Dawson keeps things sunny and energetic with sings alongs (“Bobby O”) and heartfelt numbers about her own daughter Panda Delilah (“Little Panda Bear”). And at 27 minutes, parents will enjoy clapping and stomping right along with their children. No news of an appearance on Pancake Mountain, but I’m sure it’s somewhere in the works. You’ll have to wait until September 9th to hear the album, but see her this summer headlining and opening for Ani DiFranco. Tour Dates (more to be announced shortly):
July 2nd Music Hall of Williamsburg Brooklyn, NY July 11th The National Richmond, VA * July 12th Pines Theater Florence, MA * July 13th Cape Cod Melody Tent Hyannis, MA * July 15th Ives Concert Park Danbury, CT * July 16th United Palace New York, NY * July 25th Capitol Hill Block Party Seattle, WA * indicates opening for Ani DiFranco. http://www.myspace.com/kimyadawson By Shannon Carlin
