On July 12th, San Diego’s leading philanthropic social networking company, Stay Classy, will host the largest solar powered concert in the city’s history, to raise funds for environmental causes and to promote social change through music. The Third Annual Stay Classy Tailgate
will bring together an estimated 4000 young professionals on the streets outside of PETCO Park in downtown San Diego. The event features the socially-driven band Flobots, who are playing San Diego for the first time as part of their national “Fight With Tools” tour. The event also features two of the largest solar powered stages in the country, where along with Flobots, Doomtree with P.O.S, Dirty Sweet, The Exfriends, Lady Dottie & the Diamonds, The Kneehighs and 40 Oz. To Freedom will hit the stage. Flobots will contribute more than just raw musical talent to this year’s Tailgate; Stay Classy has partnered with the band to raise awareness and funds for their new non-profit organization, also called “Fight With Tools”. Similar in nature to Stay Classy’s mission, the band’s organization represents a community of empowered fans who use the power of music to drive positive social change. “Flobots.org is dedicated to harnessing the power of music to bring bands and fans together to create positive change in their communities. Partnering with Stay Classy and Sustainable Waves is a great way to empower fans to make a difference in their community, learn about sustainable energy and have a great time” Greening The Event As part of the ongoing effort to make their events as environmentally friendly as possible, Stay Classy has forged a long-term partnership with Sustainable Waves, who specializes in sustainable energy solutions for the entertainment industry. By using Sustainable Waves’ solar powered stages, rather than a diesel generator or grid power, the Stay Classy Tailgate will avoid emitting approximately 2,000 lbs of CO2, effectively neutralizing its impact on global warming. In addition to the solar powered stages, the event features an extensive recycling plan and a “Be Green” ticketing option through Stay Classy’s partner Green Mountain Energy. When a Be Green ticket is purchased it carries with it 250 kWh of renewable energy to offset the environmental impact of that person traveling to and from the event. “Our partnership with Sustainable Waves and Green Mountain Energy allows Stay Classy to provide our members with an option for environmentally friendly events throughout San Diego,” said Scot Chisholm, CEO of Stay Classy. “Not only is the event eco-friendly, but a portion of the proceeds from sales will go to benefit several influential environmental projects executed by our Foundation” Tickets to the Stay Classy Tailgate may be purchased for a limited time at $15 pre-sale at www.stayclassy.org or at the door for $20. Attendees can add a ticket to the baseball game after the Tailgate for a special deal of $10. Doors open at 12:00 PM, and the event concludes at 6:30, before the start of the baseball game at 7:05 PM.
