Despite being a band, Destroyer has often been labeled as Bejar’s solo project, due to its constantly changing line-up. However, the current Destroyer line-up consists only of members that have played on other Destroyer records and currently live in Vancouver, the city Bejar calls home. While he is unable to quantify the extent to which geography has affected Destroyer’s sound, he acknowledges that “people have ideas about a certain aesthetic that comes out of the Pacific Northwest. And, I think they may be right about that, except that I don't think we have that aesthetic.”
